Pallid Bat Antrozous pallidus
Habitat: The pallid bat is found mostly in semidesert and montane shrublands, piņon-juniper woodlands, and riparian woodland in the foothills and canyon country. Cliff faces with crevices and fissures, shallow caves and grottos, or dwellings, are needed for day roosts (T. Vaughan and O'Shea 1976; O'Shea and Vaughan 1977).
Diet: The pallid bat feeds mostly on beetles, and also on crickets, moths, scorpions, and small vertebrates including lizards, other bats, and small mice.
Description: The pallid bat is large and pale yellowish gray with big ears. The eyes are large, and the face has numerous sebaceous glands that resemble warts. Measurements are: total length 90-113 mm; length of tail 40-47 mm; length of hindfoot 10-12 mm; length of ear 23-37 mm; length of forearm 48-60 mm; weight 14-17 g.
Range in Colorado: It is possible that it occurs in northeastern Colorado.
