Mountain Chickadee Parus gambeli
Habitat: It resides in coniferous and aspen forests. In winter, wandering birds also occur in shrublands, urban areas, and lowland riparian forests.
Range in Colorado: Common resident in foothills and mountains. In fall and winter, there is altitudinal movement, as many birds withdraw from the highest parts of the breeding range and the numbers in the foothills increases. Irregular visitor, mostly fall and early winter, to western valleys, eastern plains (mostly near foothills), and mountain parks. Very rare in fall and winter on extreme eastern plains, but casual in summer on eastern plains near foothills.
Status: This species is not listed.
