Gray Catbird Dumetella carolinensis
Habitat: They occur in dense riparian thickets and also in foothill shrublands in summer.
Range in Colorado: In the summer it occurs primarily in foothill canyons and ravines at the base of the eastern foothills from Larimer County south to Huerfano County, in western Colorado from the Colorado River south to La Plata County, and in the Yampa River Valley (Martin et al. 1974). It has also been recorded in Chaffee County, southwestern Baca County, eastern Colorado, the South Platte River Valley in northeastern Colorado, the Bonny Reservoir area, and less often in the Arkansas River Valley in southeastern Colorado. In mountain parks it has been recorded in southwestern Grand County, northern Costilla County, and Arapaho National Wildlife Refuge. It is a very rare winter resident (11 records) along the base of northeastern foothills and adjacent plains from Larimer County south to Fremont County.
